We understand your sentiments about the cost of shipping. We wish it were lower too! However, the rate quoted on our site is discounted from what the shippers will actually charge us.
Of course, the cost of shipping is not related to the cost of the product ordered. Shipping costs are calculated based on weight, size, and your address. A "base" charge is applied to every package (no matter the size, weight, value, or address), although smaller, lighter packages are less, and the closer you live to a major city, the cheaper the rates.
In addition, it's helpful to remember that shipping costs are not just an added charge without benefit. Shipping a product directly to your doorstep is a significant convenience that has real value.
That said... why pay more than necessary... right! We completely agree.
We could use a cheaper service like USPS, however, it's a trade-off. It isn't that much cheaper, yet it is far less reliable and you can't track a package to ensure delivery. For these important customer service reasons, we ship orders via Fed Ex.
